The Huíla Provincial Council of the Angolan Bar Association, the Commercial Arbitration Centre (CAC) and the Faculty of Law of the Mandume ya Ndemufayo University will host the Lubango Arbitration Conference on 22 September 2026. The conference theme is “Pathways to Strengthening the Angolan Arbitration Community.”
This initiative seeks to promote arbitration and foster dialogue among Angola’s legal community, including lawyers, arbitrators, judges, academics, and representatives from alternative dispute resolution institutions.
The programme features three panels. The first, “It All Starts with the Promotion of Arbitration,” will examine the roles of legal department directors, lawyers, arbitration centres, and universities in advancing arbitration in Angola.
The second panel will discuss the role of lawyers in arbitration, covering topics such as selecting arbitrators, drafting submissions, producing evidence, appointing experts, cooperating with the arbitral tribunal, and managing procedural timelines.
The third panel will focus on cooperation between arbitrators and judges, with emphasis on drafting sound arbitral awards and addressing challenges to those awards.
